2 cups thinly sliced, pared cucumbers
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup thinly sliced onions
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon dillweed
1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
Dash of ground red pepper
Place cucumber slices in a bowl. Sprinkle with salt and cover with cold water. Refrigerate 30 minutes; drain well.
Add onions. Combine vinegar, the 1 tablespoon water, sugar, dillweed, cracked black pepper and red pepper. Pour over cucumbers and onions; toss lightly. Chill 1 hour or longer, tossing occasionally, before serving.
