CHINESE SAUSAGE BITS

    Chinese Sausage Bits

    1 pound bulk pork sausage
    1 slightly beaten egg
    1/2 cup bread cubes
    4 tablespoons butter
    3/4 cup chili sauce
    1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoons vinegar
    2 tablespoons soy sauce

    In a bowl, combine sausage, egg and bread cubes. Use a teaspoon to form small balls. Melt butter in frying pan. Cook balls evenly until brown; drain on paper towels. In a saucepan, mix remaining ingredients. Cook slowly for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Place balls in a chafing dish; cover with sauce. Serve with wooden picks.

    Yields 20 to 25 appetizers.
