Recipe for Chocolate Cutouts


    Chocolate Cutouts

    2/3 cup shortening
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 egg
    2 cups sifted enriched flour
    3/4 cup cocoa
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 cup milk

    Blend shortening, sugar and egg.

    Combine dry ingredients with milk and mix well. Chill dough about 1 hour.

    On a floured board, roll dough a small amount at a time to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut with holiday cookie cutters dipped in flour. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 8 minutes.
